The Informed Generation - TIG

Creating a mentally aware generation

Too many young people are moving through school without the language to understand their minds, the confidence to value themselves, or the support to make healthy choices. In that silence, substance abuse, low self worth, poor focus, and declining performance take root, limiting students long before they reach their full potential.

The Informed Generation is MHYI’s school based mental health awareness initiative that uses the Embrace Your Mind book and workbook, sensitization workshops, and trained teachers or counsellors to make mental health education a regular part of school life. It helps students understand themselves better, build healthier habits, and grow in knowledge, confidence, and self worth.

Mental Health Literacy and School Based Support

The Informed Generation is about making mental health a normal part of school life. By using the Embrace Your Mind book and workbook, and training teachers and counsellors to lead regular sensitization sessions, we help students understand themselves better, build self worth, and make healthier choices before challenges turn into crisis.

This is your opportunity to be part of something that truly matters. Help schools become places where young people are informed, supported, and equipped to thrive. Step forward and help turn mental health awareness into a lasting part of education.

Follows a simple, sustainable approach that introduces mental health awareness, equips students and teachers with practical resources, and embeds ongoing mental health education within the school environment.

How it works -
Step by Step

Step 1

We start the conversation

MHYI enters the school with sensitization workshops that introduce mental health in simple, practical language and help students connect it to real life challenges.

Step 2

We give them the tools

Each student receives the Embrace Your Mind workbook, while schools receive copies of the book for libraries and teachers receive guidance on how to use it for ongoing learning.

Step 3

We build local ownership

Designated teachers and counsellors are trained to continue the conversation through weekly or regular sessions, so awareness does not end when the outreach ends.

Step 4

We make it sustainable

The project turns awareness activity into an institutional practice that keeps students informed, supported, and better equipped throughout the school year.
